Happy New Year

May you have a prosperous 2008!!!!

Weekend Snapshot

This is my entry for this weeks Weekend Snapshot. This is our fruit basket that I bought last Saturday, to be served on New Years Eve.

I’m A Chardonnay :)

I’m not so sure about this though…hmmmhmmm!!!!!

You Are Chardonnay

Fresh, spirited, and classic – you have many facets to your personality.
You can be sweet and light. Or deep and complex.
You have a little bit of something to offer everyone… no wonder you’re so popular.
Approachable and never smug, you are easy to get to know (and love!).

Deep down you are: Dependable and modest

Your partying style: Understated and polite

Your company is enjoyed best with: Cold or wild meat

What Kind of Wine Are You?

Messy

For my Photohunter yearender theme “messy”, I took a picture of whats at the top of my refrigerator. Even if I have a househelp, this top of the fridge always looks like this and just seldom looks clean. Actually one of my new years resolution is to have this spot de-cluttered and clean all the time, always :)

Tinolang Manok

Our househelps are out for a vacation, so it was time for me to do my thing in the kitchen. For lunch, I cooked the first viand that I was able to master called Tinolang Manok. I was able to master the recipe to the point that I no longer need to look at the recipe compilation my sister in law gave me anymore, and my hubby loves how it taste. He is very particular in everything especially how it tastes, because of the fact that he knows how to cook a lot better than I do. Well that is his expertise, but me I know how to bake, that’s the one thing that he doesn’t know how to do. ;)
Anyway, here is the Tinolang Manok recipe just to share, in case you’re new at cooking and haven’t tried this. If you notice my tinola doesn’t have pepper leaves on it, for the reason that I do not like how it tastes with pepper leaves but sometimes I do put some.

You will need the ff:

  • 1/2 kilo chicken cut into small pieces ( i prefer the thigh part)
  • 1 tbsp crushed ginger
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 1/3 cup fish sauce (patis)
  • 1 pc chicken cube
  • 1 big sayote or green papaya cut into chunks
  • some pepper leaves
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 3 or 4 finger chilis (siling tagalog)

Here’s How:

  1. Over low fire, saute the ginger till golden brown, add the garlic and let it turn brown as well. Add the onions and saute till transparent in color.
  2. Add the chicken and cook till fragrant or well sauteed (approx 8 min)
  3. Remove excess oil and add the fish sauce, wait for the fish sauce to smell a lot better
  4. Put in the chicken cube and the sayote or papaya, add 2 1/2 cups of water.
  5. Let it boil, cover and let it simmer till the chicken is tender and the sayote half cooked.
  6. Add the finger chilis and pepper leaves. Let simmer for a minute more
  7. Serve with freshly cooked steamed rice and any fruit in season.

New Perfume Scents

I was surprised to get additional perfume as gifts by my friends last Christmas. Well the other one in the small bottle is a Bench perfume called Foxy Lady given to me by my officemate and team mate Aubrey, and the other one, the Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace scent was a gift from a friend, Jean, that just arrived from Singapore. Although I’m not into perfume that much because of my sinusitis, I am glad though to receive these gifts because these ones will be another additions to my so-called perfume collection. I also have other Victoria’s Secret scents like Pear Glace and My Desire and a Dolce & Gabbana Feminine.

Dinner at Pizza Hut

The other day my hubby and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary in just a simple way. We tagged along our son with us and did some malling after my work and after that had dinner at Pizza Hut. We were supposed to eat at Dencias restaurant (filipino-chinese resto) but my son wanted to have some Cheezee Pops. And so, we ended up having dinner there, my hubby ordered an Olive Garden Salad without the olives (he hates olives a lot) and 3 cheese personal pan pizza, I ordered mushroom and corn soup with pastry on top, some calamari and my son ordered a regular size super supreme cheezee pops for himself. He did not ate the whole pizza if that’s what you’re thinking, he only ate a slice and we brought the rest of us at home. My hubby and I are happy to celebrate our anniversary with our son, it’s like a family bonding thing.

Donate A Boat

Do you have a non working boat or yacht, if you have those that you no longer use and actually is worrying where to put it on storage, you can send all your love to the most unfortunate by donating that boat to Boatangel. My friend at the US actually donated one. They accept boat donations in the US even across America. Boatangel arranges for pick ups of your non working boat or yacht that you wish to donate. They are a charity boat donations center of non-working boat, trailer, yacht and other vehicles.

This community accepts boat donations and resells them on Ebay inorder to acquire enough funds to create and ship for Free DVD about Christian Childrens Animation that they made by themselves for the benefit of some childrens institutions that needs help and assistance. The DVD was made to inspire children as well aside from it’s main purpose. At the moment they are making a documentary for AntiDrug that features some youth that tells their stories, their rise and fall in drugs and in some other aspects to inspire others from their lifes experiences. Donate a boat and help Boatangel in creating DVDs to help children, if only I have an old boat I would donate it as well.

My Margarita Flavor

I love Margaritas, so I took the quiz just to check what flavor of Margarita fits my personality. It turned out I’m a blueberry Margarita. Well, I haven’t tried this flavor yet, maybe i’ll go try some one of these days.

You Are a Blueberry Margarita

Honestly, there’s no one quite like you. And believe it or not, most people think that’s a bad thing!
You’re open, wild, friendly, wacky, and tons of fun. You have a big personality… and a big heart.
