Chuckie

Our very first dog that I was able to convince my husband to get is a Basset Hound we named Chuckie. We decided on naming him Chuckie because of the chocolate drink that my kid loves a lot. We had Chuckie in the family year 2004 as far as I can remember. I got him from a breeder in Bacolod through a newspaper ad. I just remembered him as I was going over some pictures thats the reason why I thought it would be nice to include him in our blog, since he was family after all. Chuckie no longer lives with us and is happily living in another family.

Just like any other Basset Hound, Chuckie has long ears, a hot dog like body and sleepy eyes, he comes with papers as well. We decided to gave him up because we lived in a small apartment then and his size is not appropriate in a small apartment. He loves to eat just like anything you feed him and loves walks in the afternoon with our other son GJ. He likes to lie around anywhere he pleases. He is a sweet and gentle dog.

From the research that I gathered before here are some info I got about Basset Hounds:

The name Basset Hound comes from the French word “bas” meaning low. Some sources suggest the Basset Hound may have originated from genetic dwarf dogs presented in litters of other types of French hunting hounds, however, we do know that it is a rather old breed, descended directly from the Bloodhound. Shakespeare described the Basset Hound with the following poetic image: “Ears which sweep away the morning due.” According to research, the true fame of the Basset Hound began in 1863, when it was presented at the Paris Dog Show. Its popularity spread to England where a lively dispute arose between two factions of breeders: Those who wanted to keep the Basset Hound a hunting dog, and those who wanted to transform it into a companion dog. Situated between these two factions were the American breeders who proceeded to develop an extremely pleasing companion dog without sacrificing any of the qualities of the hunter. The breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1885. Its natural bent is for hunting both in the den and in the open. It is therefore, used for the hunting of fox, hare, opossum, and pheasant. Bassets can hunt in packs or alone. It has an excellent sense of smell, but its reflexes are a bit slow. Their slow pace is convenient for hunters on foot and keeps game from being scared out of reach. The Basset’s nose is almost as outstanding as the Bloodhound’s. George Washington may have owned Basset Hounds given to him by Lafayette after the American Revolution.

We miss you chuckie!!!!

Anaheim Angels Team Building

My career as a Call Center Agent takes a new height as I was assigned to a new team as Technical Lead after passing, with flying colors, the nose bleed-like training for Level 2 skill upgrade or better yet Skill4 (Product Support Representative or Skill 3 is what a Level 1 technician is). This was the first ever Team Building under our new Team Captain, the gregarious Madam Lovelie. After the shift we had a hearty meal at BulcaChong, one of the finest Bulalohan spot here in Davao City. Too bad I wasn’t able to get pictures of the food we ordered that day but anyway, I’ll probably feature that place here one of these days. We had the ever famous BulcaChong Carabeef Bulalo, Guisadong Chopsuey (Stir Fried Chopseuy), kinilaw, liempo with french fries on the side and lots of rice…yummm!!! of course… do not forget the soft drinks on the side.

After our tummies filled, we headed to G-mik, one of the cities barkada KTV house, its not a fancy videoke place though but it doesn’t matter, we all love to sing and everybody was having a great time. We had a couple of rounds for the beer, of course with junk food to match.
It was indeed one night to remember and we are all hoping we can do it again.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I first saw this book when it was featured in a segment for book lovers at the now defunct TV show “F” hosted by Daphne Osena Paez, Angel Aquino and Amanda Griffin. I was curious about the book that after a few days, when I had the chance to go to National Bookstore I asked if they had it available. Unfortunately…not. I waited months before I got hold of my copy. “Confessions of a Shopaholic” written by Sophie Kinsella. The book is about the adventures and misadventures of Rebecca “becky” Bloomwood a writer for the Successful Saving magazine, it is a story about her life, her career, her relationship and her uncontrollable spending habit. What’s good about the book aside from it’s moral lesson is that it is so hilarious there is no dull moment when reading it. The story is so light and just “too good to pass up” if I may quote USA Today.

The book is actually the 1st installment among the 4 books. The 2nd book was Shopaholic takes Manhattan, third was Shopaholic ties the knot and the last book Shopaholic and sister. All 4 books never failed my expectation..even, exceeded it. I would recommend this book as something new to read, something fresh in exchange for the usual love stories that we read.

I give it 10 books as my rating. Read it and you’ll see what I mean.

Thomas and Friends

My Ethan is fond of trains, everytime we go to Toy Kingdom he goes straight to the Thomas and Friends section that you can actually leave him there and go around the store; and yet would still find him there when you go back.

The love for that cute little train started when his dad bought him a Thomas and Friends DVD, the show is actually a British childrens show series, the story circulates on the adventures of the group of trains and road vehicles in the island of Sodor. When he watched the show from one episode to another he immediately liked it. His dad bought him a starter set, which led to a medium set and eventually even got the big set for that matter. He also have collected so far 5 different engines and I’m afraid would collect more (sigh). I never thought that aside from Thomas the main engine there are 34 other characters classified as Railroad Engines, and besides that there are Narrow Gauge Engines which composes 12 charaters as well, there are even non rail charaters. Actually Thomas is a 0-6-0 blue tank engine. He lives and works on the Island of Sodor runned by the Fat Controller, and is locomotive number 1 on the island’s main railway. He has become the main star of the show.

My son basically has his train tracks lying wherever he feels like putting it, except on the kitchen of course. His dad even helps him built the tracks with bridges and connecting roads that came with the set. He never gets tired of watching the trains go up and about, round and round. The good thing is my son knows how to take care of his toys he makes it a point to put the rest of the engines in a spot if not being utilized, its good because for sure the toys will last long, long enough till he gets a little bit older to appreaciate his toys when he was young.

New Partnership

My wife and I were very excited in our new found partnership, we have not made any partnership of this kind, very unique for us and it has rekindled the times that we enjoyed working hand in hand having the same goal in mind. Blogging as it is known, we never imagined that this kind of thing can put our hearts and minds together achieving the same goals and objectives.

We have different daily jobs, I am engaged in accounting solutions and consulting services, sales and marketing while she do as technical lead support for a computer gadget. We don’t usually talk or discuss much about our daily jobs but with Blogging, we are like a tag team that when she or I started posting there’s no need to tell what everybody should do. We work in tandem, we just do what we have to finish certain goal for the day or night, since that’s the time we have much.

Its like what we have started, it was love at first sight…well, for this ITS LOVE @ FIRST POST.
I only hoped that this flowing excitement be a PASSION that will put our Blogging Partnership to the next level.

New Bike

My husband and I was thinking then what would be the best gift for him when turns 6 this year. I have always wanted for him to get his own bike so at least he can spend the afternoons biking around the subdivision either with us or with his yaya. He is a growing kid and so he gets bored spending most of the afternoon after school or the weekends inside the house, and he’s starting to get tired of his toys as well. And so, on the day of is birthday, we have bought him a bike as a present.

He and his dad went to Uyanguren (the Binondo- Sta. Cruz – Escolta of Davao) to buy his bike. According to his dad upon arriving at the store he immediately picked the color red bike since he is fond of Lightning McQueen which is a red race car. Even if his dad likes another design he insisted of getting the red one. My son is indeed a big boy already, he knows and expresses what he wants.

Kiddo’s 6th birthday

Every year we make it a point to prepare something or go somewhere to celebrate or sons’ birthday. This year we decided to cook a little for a small get together with family and friends during his big day. Of, course the cake with the birthday candle is always there for that is always the highlight. He always likes to blow the candle over and over, and that night we did that 8 times. We had the usual spaghetti, my favorite macaroni salad (which I made myself), fried chicken and grilled pork chops. My husband brought home a gallon of Magnolia ice cream to add.

Earlier that day my husband and kid went out to buy a bike for his birthday gift. I could see the happiness in his eyes when he showed me his bike. We are happy to see that he has improved a lot in terms of academics and interaction with other people. He is super hyper and asks a lot of questions. We are happy to see a more active kid on him.
